Biplab Kumar Sikdar passed away on March 31, 2024 at the age of 78 in Edmonton, Canada. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Biplab came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Biplab was born in India on June 18, 1945 to parents Dr. Manmath Nath Sikdar & Binapani Sikdar. After graduating with a degree in mechanical engineering, he had a very successful career in India with many accomplishments.
In 1979, Biplab met the love of his life, Soma, after which they decided to get married and start a new phase of life. Together, they had 2 daughters; Moumita & Moutushi. In 2011, Biplab retired and decided to move with his wife to Canada to spend the rest of his life with his eldest daughter, Moumita, and her family. Until his last breath, he spent and enjoyed every single moment with them. He had a passionate love affair with Indian foods.
Biplab was an exemplary father, grandfather, and human being. He embodied the best of qualities; unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in his caring nature towards others.
Biplab was a gentle soul with a kind heart and loved spending time with family and friends. He was a very active volunteer for any community event and used to love to spend quality time with everyone around him He will be remembered for his smiling face and positive attitude, along with caring and affectionate behavior. He will be deeply missed by all of us who had the chance to know him.
His departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by his community, his entire family, and countless others who loved him deeply in his wide-network of people.
He will be remembered by his loving wife Soma, daughters; Moumita & Moutushi, sons-in-law; Sanjay & Mukesh, grand children; Meghna, Vayun, Mayank & Aayansh, and numerous extended family, friends and neighbours.
Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Edmonton Crematorium & Funeral Home, 6403 Roper Road NW, Edmonton, AB.
