TIM LAWRENCE ALENIUS

July 23, 1951 to December 17, 2023

It is with sadness and heavy hearts to announce the passing of Tim Alenius on December 17th, 2023. Tim will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.

Tim was predeceased by his Father and Mother, Carl and Agnus Alenius, his brothers Joe Sharkey (Doreen), Roy (Patricia) and Doug (Liz). Tim is survived by his wife Mona, his brother Gary (Bev), his sister Linda Halladay (Clarence) and his children, Caterina Coffey (Scott) and Nathan.

Tim will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends and co-workers from Commercial Solutions Inc. Tim had many interests and talents away from work. He would spend hours making sure his golf equipment was in tip-top shape for all the many, many rounds of golf each year at the Belvedere Golf and Country Club.  Curling would have been Tim’s second love, where there were many road trips for bonspiels and playdowns he participated in. Tim recently spent many hours repairing his Tahoe, he had that old gal running better than it had in years. He also took an interest in helping a dear friend making ice at a couple of rinks around Edmonton. He spent long hours getting the ice ready and the maintenance of the ice for last year’s season, unfortunately, he was just too weak to help out this year’s season.

Tim’s life celebration will be held on Saturday April 20th, 2024 at 1pm at the Thistle Curling Club, 6920 – 114 Ave in Edmonton. Any guests needing accommodations can book with The Four Points by Sheraton – Edmonton Gateway, 10010 – 12 Ave SW by March 19th for the reduced rate 780-801-4000 dial 0.

So sad to hear of Tim’s passing. I remember the early days when you first met Tim. He was a kind man always willing to help others.

  3. We considered Tim a wonderful friend and excellent athlete. Although I recall many times on the golf course having to pull out my wallet to pay Tim, it was worth it just having the pleasure of watching him hit the ball and always listening to his quick and comical wit. Most of our time, however, was spent on the curling ice; Oilman’s Bonspiels, league play and of course the play downs. Tim was an excellent curler but our fondest memories of him were off the ice. So much fun to be around! Never a dull moment! We’ll miss you Tim but we’ll always cherish the memories we made together. Rest in peace our friend. Harv and Linda Kuzio

  5. So sorry to hear this very sad news Mona of Tim’s passing. What a terrible time of year for you to go through this most difficult time. Hopefully reminiscing of the years of happy times you shared together will help ease your pain. Sending you big hugs. 💚

  6. I am so sorry to hear about this very sad news. Tim was one of the nicest guys I have had the privilege of knowing. He was so much fun to be around.

  7. When I got the news about Tim it was one of the most bittersweet moments of my life.lWhile the tears were flowing for the loss of a dear friend I couldn’t help but laugh and smile while I was thinking back about all the great and sometimes downright ridiculously funny experiences we enjoyed together. Tim was a fierce but fair competitor in all his endeavours whether it be work or play and he was well respected for it While he relied on experience and ability to come out on top he was also notably proficient at reaching into his opponents brain and sometimes rearranging things to his needs. That being said he was also generous to a fault and would literally give a person the shirt off his back, after all it was quite likely it was that person’s shirt to begin with LOL .
I mean that in all due respect because he had the gift I alluded to about being able to get inside one’s head and theres no doubt he will remain there as he has left his mark on virtually everyone who knew knew and loved him!
Please accept my condolences everyone and especially you Mona. Tim frequently reminded us that you pulled him through his first serious bout with cancer.

I was shocked to hear of Tim’s passing. I guess I took for granted always seeing his smiling face at various bonspiels around the country for all these years, Tim was always a wonderful conversation, a great friend, I will miss him terribly. My most deepest condolences Mona. The Edmonton curling community lost a great guy, but his memories will make us richer for knowing him.

My husband and I knew Tim through the curling community, often having the pleasure of curling against him. He was such a great competitor a gracious winner and always a good sport if you had the pleasure to beat him. He was very kind and funny, our Tofield club had the pleasure of having him out to a spiel. He touches the hearts of all he meets. We will miss him. We are so very sorry to Tim’s family and friends.
    RIP Tim 💕🥌
