MARGARET LOEHR

With profound sorrow, the family of Margaret Loehr (née Killen) of Edmonton, Alberta, announces her passing on January 30th, 2024, at the age of 78.

Born in Edmonton on August 2nd, 1945, Marg dedicated her early years to figure skating, reflecting her zest for life from a young age. A true adventurer, her love for travel blossomed during her first exploration of Hawaii as a young adult. On a ski trip to Jasper at the age of 21, Marg met her future husband, Ron. Their 56-year journey together was marked by shared passions, including skiing, bowling, camping, golf, and winter escapes to California and Arizona.

A woman of many interests, Marg enjoyed reading, playing cards, gardening, decorating, trying new recipes, and entertaining. She cherished her family and friends, and she delighted in cheering on her six grandchildren at every opportunity.

Marg was courageous and self-determined. In her late thirties, while raising three children, she entered University and embarked on a rewarding nursing career. Independent and resilient, she defied the odds with her physical health, living life on her terms to the fullest.

Marg will be forever loved and deeply missed by her devoted husband, Ron; children Tracey (Paul) Piot, Brett (Pam) Loehr, and Melissa (Bryan) Braul; grandchildren Emma, Jonah, Luke, Oliver, Devin, and Adam; siblings Ted Killen, Marilynne (Doran) McMullin, and Mike Killen; brother-in-law Alan (Helen) Loehr, sister-in-law Sheila McCarthy; and numerous family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Tom and Betty Killen, brother Blair Killen, sisters-in-law Nancye and Sherry Killen, and brother-in-law Grant McCarthy.

Marg’s vibrant spirit, enduring love and resilience will be remembered by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday February 24th, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Edmonton Crematorium & Funeral Home, 6403 Roper Road, Edmonton.

  6. My deepest condolences to the entire family and all who shared the joy of having Marg as a friend. I met Marg when I joined her bridge club, I believe it was 45 years ago. The eight bridge ladies shared lots of laughs, delicious appetizers and lunches and a few crazy fun filled trips to the lake together. Marg joined us to celebrate one of the bridge ladies birthdays last May. It was wonderful to see her and her beautiful smile. She was a kind and thoughtful lady, and friend, and will be sorely missed by so many.
